After months of all preparation and hard work. The Christmas 'Party' all came together beautifully! Despite the pandemic covering the world, we at St John's managed to have a week-long Christmas Party; in order to put a smile on the children's faces.
Each child received a delicious bucket full of homemade cakes, baked by the staff members, for the children to enjoy with their family.
And, of course, it wouldn't be a Christmas party without the wonderful gifts from St John's College. Masks and sanitizers were donated from Tiger Brands in order to observe Covid 19 regulations.
The staff made all the preparations to have 100 children per day with 50 in the morning and 50 in the afternoon to avoid them being clustered in one place. For the party packs, we asked all beneficiaries to bring back the 5kg maize meal bags we give them with the food parcel and then packed all the Christmas goodies inside the bag as it is easier to carry.
The children were very delighted with everything they received; although the package was a bit heavy for the small ones, The staff sang Christmas Carols imitating the radio to entertain the children and Santa was present to hand out gifts and take photos with them. It was not easy for them to go home because they enjoyed being with their friends and being able to play outside.
